    Leather seat covers

The ad by Trim Technik in the Dec mag offers all three seats for 895 pounds, a very good price. I've not heard of these folks before. Does anyone have experience to relate? ( Assuming this is an appropriate question for the forum.)
    Many thanks

Hi john I saw that add and thought that was a good price for a set of leather covers. Sorry I can't tell you any more than that.

I too have a sample coming. They sent close-up photos of the "Directors" Stag and it does look sharp, with what appeared to be the basket weave pattern. It sure would be nice if someone had a look before I cough up for an Ocean crossing. (-:

Exactly ! Which is why I've asked for a sample.

I really question leather in cars.
My BMW company car has leather, it's very thick leather, so hardwearing, but it's sealed and doesn't smell of leather, might as well be plastic!
Then my Maserati has very thin leather, soft, smells lovely, but you have to be very careful, no jeans with studs, kids take their shoes off etc.
You can't beat the original ambla!

I think I must have lucked out then! Thick, hardwearing leather that smells just great. One of my guilty pleasures is to sneak into the garage, open the doors and have a sniff! Sad but true

I couldn't tell from the ad or website if piping is an option on the Trim Technik covers? And do they provide foams? When I had my seats refurbished the trimmer used the original vinyl cover as a template, but once he had fitted the new foams it was obvious that the original shape of the cover would not fit. He had to make up a new template and cut the leather to fit the new foams. So, word of caution, if you are thinking of using the Trim Technik covers and think you will need to replace the foams, ask them if they can supply foams.

I received my sample yesterday. It looks pretty good, but it's too small to get a really good impression and I have yet to compare the colour against my car. I'm going to be away for a few days but will do this upon my return. I have their 'tan' sample which looks quite close to Triumph 'beige', as fitted to my car (I always thought Triumph should have described Beige as Tan !)

I've gone back to the suppliers with a number of questions, such as the nature and number of the 'strips' in the centre section and if the covers come complete with the standard pull through strips and padding etc. I'll let you know what they say.

                    Cheers

I have had this question of leather or pleather for a while. My main reason for opting for the original vynl is many factors. New modern vynl is very hard to tell the difference. It repels water ( very handy with a soft top ) better weather resistance ( ok it gets a bit hotter) better wear resistance. Easier to keep clean. I also find after a few year leather always cracks a crazies. This is meant to add to the character and patina but I think they just start to look worn. Plus I save about 2 grand. My trimmer says quality hides are expensive and they take hours getting patterns from them due to the shape and scares on the hide ( well it was a animals skin ) my motto buy cheap you'll buy twice If you like smell then get an air freshner or buy a handbag. Only my opinion based on how I intend to use my car with teenagers in the back seat

You need to clarify Edd that the teenagers in the back seat are your kids, not some form of indiscretion from a throw back to your youth..

By the way can i borrow your handbag..
