    Does K seal work?

I sem to have a tiny low pressure weep, I have a small amount of coolant in the Vee. I had the water pump changed and all new seals. Also they did the inlet manifold gaskets with the good ones all less than 500 miles. When I had it done they did a compression test and chemical test of the coolant system and everything was OK There does not seem to be any leak when the engine is hot the water level has not really changed I have a Stagweber header fitted with warning buzzer. Checked when cold and there was about a dessert spoon of coolant sitting in the vee . drove her about four miles and it is almost gone. . it seams to only leak when cold . so I suspect the water pump seal leaks when cold. I have heard that K seal is pretty good stuff wondered what you lads thought of it

A small leak form the water pump is common (unless you have a special ceramic seal fitted). It usually improves with regular use, but may leak again after a lay off. Prodcuts like K-seal may not work with roating/moving seals but they are good at sealing static parts like leaky joints/gaskets.

Have to agree about not working with moving parts but as said Stag Water pumps do leak sometime due to lack of use but reseal after use, you may be lucky

Regards K seal I know of 2 instances where it has saved the day, a heater matrix having to be renewed on a VW Golf and it stopped a Stag manifold leaking.

      At about £10 -£12 a bottle it's worth a try isn't it More info hear http://www.kseal.com/uk/how-does-k-seal-work/

I can vouch for K Seal. It mended a leak in the radiator on my daily drive and seems to have sorted the Stag also.

I have used this in the past with good results on minor leaks on two occasions , but on the flip side I was not amused at what I found when stripping an engine which had been run with this stuff in it .it took ages to clean the gooey paste for want of a better word out of the engine before a proper engineered solution was applied .it did not seem to stay fully in suspension when not required to plug a leak ,but I guess that's the only downside I could find and if it saves a engine failure /disaster then flushing aint so bad.

Loads of info in the search box.

i used it on my daily which had a small leak but didn't work, so a waste of £10 but worth a try nonetheless.

After your advise I have not used K seal yet but was told about Wynns Stop Radiator leak . they state it does not form a slimy deposit . I have Emailed them asking there Tech team for advice on weather to use it in a Stag
Will let you know what they say. may be helpful to other members its only about £ 4 enough to do up to 12 litre

Minor leak like that, I'd let it be, mine does that during the winter, dry as a bone all summer. Just one of "her little ways".

I had a small spraying leak from the rad core recently - popped in some K seal and literally (about 10 mins after engine was upto temp) watched it stop , just hope it lasts. Wished I'd videoed it and "sold the vid" to K seal - no connection etc etc

                    Cheers

Have seen exactly the same as Ian with a leak in the core of my Vitesse - it stopped and dried up as I watched and is still good 3 years later.

I would be wary of using it and indeed any sealer like that on a modern Jap engine as there was a warning as long ago as 1986 issued by Honda talking about blocking tiny waterways in throttle bodies, coolant heated extra air valves etc..

I have seen it cure a heater matrix leak on a VW Golf that was quite bad. People confuse it with the old type Bars leak that blocks up water ways with with the S**t it is made from. And it blocks you Rad tubes as well.

K Seal is a different product and works well IMO but has it's limitations if the leak is that bad.

Anyone remember the additive/stop leak products made by a company called Miles (I think) it was along time ago?, the rad leak stuff and engine oil additive were the B******s but only available to the trade back in the 70s and 80's.

Thanks lad i think I will do nothing at the moment as I am not using the car much as the weather is so bad so perhaps as suggested it may seal itself with extra use. It is so slight but any water in the Vee always make blood run cold.
