Centre Air Vent not meeting heater box

Just had the wood work of the dash to fit new plastic veneer and on re assembly noticed that the outlet from the heater to the centre vent do not marry up there is a gap of about 3/4 of an inch between the heater and the vent is there something missing ? there is foam on the heater but it is short of the vent should it be thicker cant see any missing bits according to the parts book anybody come across this ?

I had the same problem on my car which I bought as an unfinished project. The cause was that the heater was not from a stag but a Triumph Saloon.

But if yours fitted OK before then I cant imagine why it should not fit after reveneering unless maybe it didnt fit before, and you did not notice?

I had the same problem on my car - although it does have A/C. I had to double up on new foams to bridge the gap. My dash has been recovered which may be moving the vent slightly further away from the heater box but not by much.

I dont think any thing I have done has created the gap it is only with the dash panels off it becomes obvious may have to pad with more foam

If the gap is as large as 3/4 inches then you probably have the Tr2000 type heater.

As a further clue, the T2000 type heater has extra vents to warm the rear seat passenger's feet. These are not there/blanked off on the stag unit.
