    wheel cleaning

I have used wicks patio cleaner (cheaper the better) Spray on neat agitate with a brush and rinse off with plenty of fresh clean water. Even takes off very old brake dust.
Have found it to be as good as G101
It Contains the same chemicals that tyre garages use to clean wheels up.

    Cheers Glenn

I thought of this to clean the heads , old alley is very hard to get that new look. I use brick acid for lots of jobs in the trade. A friend steered me clear saying the acid continues to eat and etch even after lots of cleaning to get rid of it .
Watch out Glen . If it worked for you then hey ho good for you

What do you use to get rid of that little bit of surface corrosion on alloys?
Is normal aluminium polish such as Mothers Mag OK. I've been hesistant in case there is a lacquer finish it would spoil

            Bruce,

If the wheels are lacquered then if there is any corrosion it will be under the lacquer and usually has a 'spidery' look. General dull corrosion us a good indication that there is no lacquer and, as Brian says, Solvol Autosol and elbow grease will soon smarten them up. An application of car polish will then protect them for a few months.

I use this stuff to clean wheels and dilute it down to clean other things on the car.
Its a great APC (All purpose Cleaner) and a very good car detail friend gave me the heads up to use it get some empty spray bottles and and fill them with this and away ya go .
It is a great de-greaser as well and good for removing mould on soft tops etc etc

Its cheap too for a gallon

very very fine went and dry paper (2000 grade) and then compound and polish should work - don't cut through the lacquer though ideally
