    BRG photos

Anyone got photos of a BRG car with a brown interior ?. Cant make my mind up black/black stripe or brown/gold stripe for my car.

    #2
How about with a beige interior ?

When I got mine it had gold stripes and although green and gold sound, sort of, right, I'd always wanted silver stripes.

Changed to silver and very happy with the result. I wouldn't want black stripes but it's all down to personal choice.

    Cheers

I like the strip too. Although you call it MK1 it sits on my 1975 MK2 ..... Now don't ask me when Leyland stopped fitting it on cars and why mine has it as the cover had been out for years. Maybe could have been aske for. Anyone got a photo ?

            Hi Malc,

What photo do you want? My old white Stag came to me many years ago with no strip or cover, but with black sills. It ended up in my ownership with white sills, and the next owner fitted the narrow strip. My current Stag came with covers, under which was a horror story of rust and bodges. It now has black sills with the narrow strip as built.

I can provide photos of all the above options if you need them.

My car has got the full covers on , I put them on after it was restored 16 years ago , I spayed clear waxoil behind them when they were fitted and when I removed them a couple of months ago I cleaned the waxoil off and the sills were as good as new ,no rust at all .

The penny has just dropped Dylan - It was because your car is called Dennis that they wanted to use it in New Tricks, so that Dennis Waterman could drive it

Do you think they'd be interested if I called my car Amanda ? - drat, she's left, hasn't she

                    Cheers

                        I think it's personal choice.

If you want it original then most earlier cars had the strip whereas mk 2s had the full cover. The cover can provide a collecting area for mud etc leading to corrosion but suitable preventative measures and the occasional removal to check should avoid that problem.

                        I prefer the full covers.

                        Cheers

K, the car we are talking about is a 1973 LHD USA car and has the full cover, Mk1 doors but all else Mk2. 100% mk 1 1/2. My other car is a European LHD 1974-5 car and had black paint bits (yuk) and the strip, Is 100% a Mk2 car.....but with strips...so when did they put the, or stop putting, the strip on cars ?? Looked like your first car Julian until l painted the black bits.

                              Ah Ha Thanks J.
So it seems that a lot of cars have had the full cover fitted later in life. Most prob. after a rebuild.
