How are the winter projects coming along?

Not very many months ago when we were all enjoying topless driving in the sun, I was reading with interest the planned jobs on our cars for the winter.

I was inspired by them and planned to take the engine out, strip and rebuild. So far, all I've managed is to inflate one tyre…its too cold and wet!

I was wondering how everyone else has got on with their plans this winter?

Dom I am progressing with my zf conversion a few hicups on the way I belive the end is in sight, just had to replace rear oil seal on gb so front exhaust pipes off prop dropped x member removed then found problem was the jag output shaft I had to remove some of the end so I could get the shaft to seal. I then had to remake a bracket for the speedometer sender i am using a bmw zf also have to cure a leak at front inhibitor switch.

    cheers glenn

Finished Until I think of the next job !

I was doing my rear suspension and although, for various reasons, it took far longer than it should have done, it's done,

We're going away for the weekend now - in the Stag

      Cheers

Ps Glenn - seeing your post reminded me that you wanted me to look for something for you but I completely forgot - Sorry . Can I still be of any help ?

Still collecting bits for my ZF conversion. XJ40 box now married to BW35 bell housing. Kickdown linkage - sorted. Propshaft - sorted. Torque converter and Flexiplate - sorted. Bellhousing to engine adaptor plate - sorted.

Just got the speedo drive, inhibitor switch and reversing light interfaces to deal with, then the gearbox crossmember and gearshift. Once I've got my head around the last few I'll be taking the plunge and starting work on the car. Well, that's the intention anyway..........

Mine's been up on the ramps in the barn for over 2 months and I just can't be bothered to go in there and get started. My excuse is that it is too cold.

Just got the distributor back from the Doctor (7 weeks with him, so if anyone plans to have theirs refurbished, take note of the timing!) and it looks brand new. The rear suspension parts have been away for 6 weeks to be blasted and powder coated, still waiting and won't get them back before the new year now I was planning on putting it all together after Christmas as an antidote to the festivities...

Done nothin'. But new garage heater was installed this week. Thank goodness says the Stag, best Christmas present ever, it's -29oC (-32oC with windchill) outside.
Got a new bonnet release cable to fit and collecting suspension parts to do.... sometime....over winter
New zf conversion kit from Monarchs is sitting in the garage, but will have to wait until I can drive the car to the transmission specialist in town, and the roads are now covered in snow and ice until about March/April.

I have just had a look at the weather in Saskatoon and I cannot comprehend such cold. With my increasingly useles circulation, I would not last 2 minutes there. It was +8°C here today and I felt cold. On a more cheery note, the days will get longer as of tomorrow!

Yup, just about to go out and do the Christmas food shopping. I bet the underground car park will be full and so I'll have to park outside. Not fun wheeling a shopping cart over snow when there is a -32oC wind finding its way through your clothes.

Some time after Boxing Day, Buttercup will get her new driveshafts.

                      I think.

I think I've done better than most.
I've fitted poly bushes all round with new springs and shocks , I've replaced the flexi brake pipes and discs , I've waxoiled underneath ,stripped all the body work and sent it to be re sprayed . I got it back from the body shop about two weeks ago and have got it 90% back together . SWMBO has banned me from the garage till after Xmas so that's it till January .

I haven't started yet. Still waiting for the house purchase to go through so I have a garage to work in!

I was expecting to have stripped and hopefully rebuilt my gearbox by now!

                          Regards

I have a long term project on the go in the form of a Triumph 2000 MK1... am I allowed a non Stag pic?!! It's only previous owner was the comedian Stanley Unwin, I bought itin 2004 in a very bad condition. I did a weldathon on it and returned it to the road but the time has come to do it properly. I'm in no rush though. And yes - I know I should have bought proper masking paper!!

I've taken time off it to fit a rear wing repair to the Stag, so far I have the bumper and the badge off and hope to get the angle grinder on it very soon

                            Brian.
