A word of warning I was taking my car on a fairly long journey to the french part of the country, so I decided to change the oil and filter as the season was just starting. To make it easier on myself I removed the drivers wheel to get at the filter and all was well with the oil change. However when I replaced the wheel I sheared a stud, just on initial tightening before final checking to torque.
Never had that happen before and I personally don't know of anyone else who has either, however on ordering a new stud the supplier said that they were getting a number of requests for studs.
So either we are getting more ham fisted, or metal fatigue is rearing it's ugly head, just a warning be careful when doing up wheel nuts and have a stud spare :?
