Re spray

Hi,

Looking for some of your experiences on the cost of re sprays. Estimates differ from 3k to 6k. All very confusing. All quotes include the engine out and external re spray , engine bay paint, boot and bonnet internal paint. All door aligned etc.

Any thoughts?

Its like a lot or services, you have to decide what you want doing. The first decision is bare metal or not. If you dont bare metal, previous faults can come through later. Then what if they find any rust? And a recommendation is worth a lot.

Just had a quote for sand down to bare metal and sorting out impefections but with engine in. 40 quid an hour for 40 hours plus 500 quid materials for primer, undercoat, three coats, polish down. All prep included. 1900 quid.

If your bodywork is in good condition, then removal of all trim, glass, engine, etc. followed by a flat down, barrier coat, primer, top coats, machine polish, refitting trim, glass, engine, stripes, etc could be done for £3k but I would want to inspect work done for other customers first. I had quotes for a bare metal respray of over £4k 2 years ago based on good panel work, but when I finally took the plunge this time last year we uncovered a lot of hidden bodges and rust which effectively trebled the cost.

Re 750 re spray in truth its 900 euros I strip off most items before I take it in then heavy sand some small filling bits primer 2 coats water based paint (no reactions) 1 coat cellulose clear sealer they have done work for me before always been very happy O and Cash no Factura

As long as you are happy and the jobs are good what more can you ask for! I have three or more coats of primer three coats of silver base coat three of red candy and three clear laquer!

Materials for my full body, inside, underside and topside will be about £750.00 including stone chip & cavity wax.

I removed all the trim and glass myself , the body work was ok ,the paint had just faded and I have just paid £1200 for a re spray .

Hi, I purchased a shell that had had all the work done, if I remember correctly it had new wings alround, a new front valance, new sills and various other bits and bobs. It was painted in carmine red and had shutz (think that is how you spell it) on the floor pan and it cost me £4750, and that all so included delivery to my house.
Hope that gives you a bit of an idea. I bought it off eBay to the dismay at quite a few people on here!
