    Zf bell housing to RV8

    Hi all,

I have just got some enthusiasm to start back on the stag. I have just about finished the H4 head light upgrade and am now looking at the g/box mod from BW35 to ZF.

I have an RV8 engine. I have an XJS ZF box with 35k miles on it. I have a range rover bell housing thanks to Jeff.

Now I think I saw a post somewhere about this mod and someone said the BW35 bell housing could be used to fit the ZF box to the RV8 engine. Am I right or am I sadly deluded.

No rude comments please as I am terribly sensitive.

    Regards to paul.

      Dave.

Ah yes you may be right. It may well just be for the Triumph engine..

Paul I'm pretty certain a ZF to RV8 is a piece of P**s using off the shelf parts. I'm sure someone can confirm this.

Range Rover have RV8 mated to a ZF

you said you have the range rover bell housing ,that will mate to your engine then you just need to make an adapter plate or sandwich plate to go between bell housing and zf box, i think ?

Hi gents.. Yes it is all beginning to come back to me.

I need to sort an adaptor plate. I seem to remember monarch do this sort of thing.

My memory is not what it used to be. I will have a hunt around and see what the info is on the net.

            Thanks for you input.

You don't need an adapter plate, as said above the ZF goes straight onto the RV8 just like it does on the Range Rover.
You need to think about exactly which donor vehicle the ZF will come from, RR box is unsuitable for obvious reasons.

No, as Ian said, the Range Rover bell housing already connects a ZF to a RV8 engine. From what I remember the ZF does not have a mechanical speedo drive but an electronic one so you will have to deal with that.

                  Paul.

My mk 1 had a rover engine with a Stag manual box and that needed an adaptor plate and as already said, the rover bell housing should mate to the ZF directly, (with my very limited mechanical knowledge).

                  Jeff.

                  Morning Julian.

                    Thanks gents,

I have a really bad memory and will get back into this in the next week or 2. I am away to the USA and when I get back I will get everything I need and then get the BW out..

                    Take care all
