Clutch release sleeve - hole and pin

    Hi All.

The clutch release sleeve in the manual and on rimmers site show a small hole where I think a pin goes in. I have just taken the gearbox from my car a found. that my release sleeve does not have this hole .Question what does this pin do and should I get a new sleeve with hole.

    Thanks

Tim I think you are talking about the pin to stop the carrier rotating. It rests on the side of one of the fork dowels.you may have an incorrect carrier.

If I get what you mean and you are talking release bearing carrier, then the hole should have a roll pin DS811 in it to stop the carrier rotating with the release bearing.

Sounds like the one you've taken off was a 'wrong 'un'

      PS. Bugger... late again....

Thanks Steve and Ian for very quick replies. I will order new release as I believe I have wrong part fitted as you both suggest, maybe the reason I had a sticky clutch action.

Before you re-assemble go to the Buckeye Triumph site in the USA and read his very interesting piece about sticky clutch action..
