Have any of you fitted the full Rimmer (Phoenix) large bore stainless sports exhaust system, does it fit easily, does it give any more poke and does it have a good noise?? I have the new Weber carb to fit.
Andrew I have Phoenix tubulars stainless system with baffled boxes (At the moment, soon to be straight through though) and large bore tail pipes. Sounds like this but camcorder mic is naff
Just looked at rimmers site and I think when they say large bore its only the tail pipes they are referring to ,if that is the case the only difference to that system mine has is the 4 tail pipe so would think the sound would be similar.

Thanks , Andrew.
I fitted the large bore (it's tail pipes only) stainless rimmer system a while back. The tubular manifold helps liberate some power and noise, but the bigger improvement is from Holley 4 barrel carb and straight through exhaust boxes from Tony Hart. The later sound awesome.
Do the straight thro' pipes give the correct back pressures and more poke or do they just make a good noise?
They do sound well on the you tube clip...

More poke and noise. Less back pressure means better gas flow, more complete exit of exhaust gases and more power. Normally good for a few bhp.
The video doesn't quite do justice to the noise. There are some other ones of mine linked in there as well. The one where I freak out the wife from a minor acceleration was funny.

Hi Andrew,
I have a set of Tony Harts straight through centre boxes and big bore tailpipes (from Rimmers about 20 years agao I think) sounds good and gives less restriction which is better.
I will try the Rimmer pipes for now, the cost of buying the full sports tubes AND the the Tony Hart straight thro's would be a bit too much...I did look at Votex silencers but decided they would be a lot of money for a result I may not like.

Same here, although I used the Robsport straight through boxes, great sound.
Hi
Here's a (wobbly) video of my Stag last summer. You need to turn the sound up for full effect, and i still haven't managed to get a video of it on the move, where it sounds amazing revving up through the gears. It has Holley carb and Langford exhaust.
