Mental 1000 BHP Nitrous Oxide XJ12 Coupe in Cheshire - Anyone Know About it?

I called around to the local industrial eatate today to get a leaky tyre bead sealed and next door to the tyre mans workshop is a paint shop. I noticed they had an XJ there in primer. I then called in to see my pal Dave Gate in his workshop (those who came on the summer Hough Lunch Run will know Dave). I mentioned the XJ to Dave and he knew about it as its owner had wanted Dave to do some work on it.

It sounds a right mental car. The owner has installed a custom built Led dash, the boot floor has been lowered to take 2 nitrous oxide tanks and the V12 engine has been heavily modified and has 12 individual Vauxhall Nova throttle bodies (or something similar) fitted to each cylinder. It is OVER 1000 BHP!!! The owner told Dave that with 4 people in the Jag, it is stable at 220 MPH!!!!! He does not use the car on the track or strip, just 'normal' road use, ahem.

I was wondering if anyone here has come across the car? I think the owner lives in Congleton, Cheshire.

    Cheers

hi Keith , that does sound the nuts id do love the old jags . I had a 4.0ltr xjr supercharged and played with that to tweak the horses up it went like stink afterwards and it was only a third of the power of this one so it must be mental, any chance of a picture.

Power rating is a bit high for a NA engine even with NOZ.

The Jag V12 was a slow engine, even with Broadspeed there was limited reliability. Admittedly the Jag XJ220 originally used a TWR/Cosworth highly modified V12 engine .

But it wasn't suitable so they went for a V6 turbo engine which was fitted to the legendary MG 6R4. Which incidentally was a Rover V8 with two cylinder cut off, 90 degrees V6.

It is possible 1000 bhp, even out of a 3.0 ltr but they have to have a big supercharger/Turbo, when i say big i mean big ,one that you could fit your fist into. Noz is great for accelerating up to speed but once up there you have to have real engine power. Plus the Jag is about as aero dynamic as a brick.

Would be nice to see and hear..

I must admit, when Dave told me the BHP, I was amazed. Maybe the owner was out to impress and the figure is not anywhere near it? I will try and find out a bit more info next time I am there...........

Also, can an XJ actually go at over 200 MPH without taking off!!!!

I have remembered something else, the owner is planning on fitting a rear spoiler that operates dynamically like those really fast supercars have (Bugatti Veyron?)

          Cheers

I have just remembered something else!

The engine has been bored out and I think it is now 6 Litres plus. I guess originally it was 5.3 Litres.
