Orange was the one colour Stag I didn't want, saw a black and white pic of a Topaz Stag for sale in the SOC mag and thought it would be blue. When I arrived at the sellers house there stood this Orange Stag. I bought the Stag as it was the best one I had seen and the colour has grown on me, didn't change it when the car was bare metalled several years ago and wouldn't change it now. I like the love hate reaction the colour generates and I now refer to it as a ginger Stag which is what Koy christened my Stag .
Dave.
Thank you for crediting me for that but it was Muffin the Mod.
Google Triumph Stag, click Images, and you will see Stags in all colours under the Sun.
Although I think my white one best suits a Sunny climate, there are some nice non-standard colour examples if you trawl through.

I always thought of Topaz as a Mustard colour? I would like a stag that colour but iris/French blue and or Carmine Red really grabs me

He did such a good job of styling the Stag, that it seems to handle all colors well, unlike a lot of cars that only look good in one or two colors. Mine's Damson, it stayed that color at the respray, and it's staying that way while it's with me. It's a very 70s color, and is part of the story of this car.
However, if I had the luxury (or were foolish enough) to take on a basket case and start from scratch, I'd probably modify it, stick BMW M3 convertible underpinnings under it, and try BMW space grey with smoked-black chrome as the color palette. Before everyone howls, remember that Giovanni styled a lot of BMWs too!
