    So I bought her one.
Every weekend she parks up the works car and just loves the Beemer to cruise around in..

Now everytime she starts to have a go about "yet another Stag bodyshell" or those rusty old parts in the garage, shed and house..
I just tell her she was lucky enough to get her dream,I need to work to get mine...she says no more...

    Job done..

Thanks for all the help and unbiased suggestions. I have over the years had to use all sorts of sweeteners from shoes to bling to the most expensive being buying her the house she had wanted since she was a teenager, the sweetness of that lasted for several cars and number of years. After a slightly less tense conversation last night it transpires that on this occasion a handbag is required, a very expensive handbag but easy and quick to aquire. So its off to the handbag shop tomorrow, today I will mostly be practicing my best ‘happy you are happy smile’

Are you trying to get me hospitalised? In our house domestic appliances don't count as sweeteners, there was an incident with coffee machine a few years ago when she threatened to do something horrible to me while I was asleep !

                Yes,

Christmas was a little tense last year. Bought the boy an iPhone, the daughter an iPad and the wife (so she didn't feel left out I might add) an iRon. She said that was the last straw and if I didn't give her a proper present she was leaving me. So I went and bought her a pair of designer walking boots. She loves them. And all because we went on a TR weekend tour and on one of the convoy runs stopped off for a walk to see a waterfall. Madam was struggling on her stilettos and nearly fell off the rope bridge whilst other co-drivers had the proper footwear. So she figured I was being thoughtful.

We are a little selfish when it comes to our cars. $400 for a stonking new electronic ignition system is spent without a second thought. But when wifey wants $30 for a short back and sides all sorts of questions are asked.
                "Is it really necessary?"
                "Will anyone really notice?"
"Really, couldn't you spend the money on something more useful? Like a a new windscreen washer bottle cap for the Stag."

Good luck with the Bobbitt thing.

                Barry

I have to keep reminding her that her new AGA and the week at Claridges cost more than I have spent restoring the stag so far...

Good point Andrew, although you clearly haven't been spending enough on the Stag
