Some of you may know, or have seen, Bristol based, Richard Hawker's fantastic Stag restoration.
I knew nothing of this car, or Richard, until I saw it at the Bristol Classic Car Restoration Show last year. In his very first restoration, he turned a £100ish Magenta wreck into a stunning Red beauty over about 5 years. At that show, the editor of Practical Classics saw the car and asked Richard not to talk to any other car magazine as they wanted to feature his car.
In the November 2013 issue of Practical Classics, it appeared on the front cover. I didn't know this was going to happen and so, when my subscription copy came through the post I thought it was brilliant to see a Stag on the front cover, only to realise that it was the very car that I'd seen a few months earlier.
Personally, I don't think the magazine article did justice to all the work Richard has done as it hardly featured any 'before' or 'during' restoration pictures. However, and I don't use the word lightly, Richard's work is stunning.
Anyway, in the January and February issues of the magazine, Practical Classics have been running a vote for the 'Practical Classics Restorer of the Year Award'. I've only met Richard once and he seems like a lovely and totally unassuming guy so I'm sure he won't be campaigning for any votes. However I think Richard deserves to win this and so I'm asking you to support this fellow Stag owner.
You can vote on-line here: http://www.necrestorationshow.co.uk/vote (He's number 23)
Cheers

Ps Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of his car but this came from the mag
