Standard Triumph Marque Day 22nd June

I only just stumbled across this planned event at my local ie Brooklands Museum.

So far I havent been able to find much info on it. Does anyone know the best place for more info or enquiries?

Yes, I have seen that John but its very low key isnt it? I mean it's not a very inspiring ad, and Brooklands info is also lacking. I hope they pep it up soon.

I know that Triumph cars and Triumph motorbikes once used to be the same company but that was before the Standard Triumph days. So isn't a bit surprising that the 'Standard Triumph marque day' is 'for anybody in a Standard or Triumph car or on a Triumph motorbike'

Whilst checking out the history, I came across the following:

The Triumph Motor Company was a British car and motor manufacturing company. The Triumph marque (trade-name) is owned currently by BMW. The marque had its origins in 1885 when Siegfried Bettmann (1863–1951) of Nuremberg initiated S. Bettmann & Co and started importing bicycles from Europe and selling them with his own trade-name in London. The trade-name became "Triumph" the year next, and in 1887 Bettmann was joined by a partner, Moritz (Maurice) Schulte, also from Germany. Beginning in 1889 the businessmen started producing their own bicycles in Coventry, England.

I never realised that Triumph had German origins and isn't it an irony that it ended back up in German (BMW) hands.

I also agree with Chris that the 'publicity' is very low key

I quite fancy going, but not sure I can face dragging a 7 year old and a 2 year old there when the sun's out and they'd rather be playing in the garden :-) We shall see...

Yes a few of us in the Surrey SOC are going with the club stand. I shall be there from 9am to help set up. I Look forward to seeing any of you that can make it.

I shall be there with a couple of friends in their Triumphs, from Club Triumph and TSSC. I happened across the sticker from the last Standard Triumph Forum meet I went to in the Stag today ...Brooklands 2007
