    Electric ignition

I had a spare few hours today to have another potter with the stag but still couldn't get it to start

I've tested the power to the coil and power is getting to it.

The car has a piranha electric ignition system that I think is the problem as it looks old and the case is broken !!
What other electric ignition systems are people using - Lumenition or any others !?!?

I think I might get another electric ignition for it and also get a new coil maybe and hopefully it will start then

    thanks

Are you getting Sparks if you hold an ignition lead end against something on the block?

I have fitted an accuspark to SWMBO TR7 and its working really well. I also have one on the stag which also works just fine. Can't give you a long term report because the stag is still in restoration mode, but the TR is driven every day and is fine on the accuspark so far (5 weeks). at under £40 its a bargain if it proves reliable.

Yes harder to troubleshoot electronic ignition. You have either really got to refit points or fork out for a replacement electronic unit. With the accuspark it isn't that much more expensive than buying a pair of points and a condenser.

I have just ordered an Accuspark electric ignition and one of their coils as well for an extra £10.
            Heres hoping it cures it

I have had a Newtronic system from Paddocks in my car for about 15 years now, and been no trouble except for once having to change a cracked disk, but the system came with a number of spare disks anyway.

I have Accuspark with their mappable "Stealth" ignition. Also used their non ballast coil and removed the ballast resistor from my car and also used their Spark plugs!!... Seems to be OK and I have set it up so that I can remove the "Electronic" wizardry if I have a problem later on..
( I can't really use the car like it as the centrifugal advance is disabled but the engine will start without the mappable box wired up.)
