    Not a laughing matter..

    Just to lighten the mood...

    For once it wasn't me that was in the doghouse!

    This really did test my restorations skills....

    I came home from work to find an angry wife (what's new?), a dog in the doghouse, and a very upset little girl....

    Her favourite cuddly toy had been a little chewed by George our some what misunderstood Labrador...

    In the Stag world, I think this would be known as a basket case!

    Although I have been known to use a needle and thread at work, this somehow looked past it, and I knew it was a case of trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear! Still no harm in trying.

    The result, a very happy little girl!

        And here's another restoration case...

        The evening before my daughters birthday party, my wife caught our chocolate Labrador Wellington (butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, wife thinks he could do no wrong..) eating her cake. I didn't take any pre-restoration photos unfortunately.
        This is what it looked like after my restoration;

        To those people who have thought forward; yes I did switch cakes at her birthday party, when it came to cutting the cake for the party bags, but have to admit did take this cake home and eat it!

                And here's one in which I was to blame!

                I didn't look where I was going and kicked my daughters well played with ceramic guinea pig down the stairs...
                A few pieces even made it down the second flight of stairs!
                She played with this every night after her real guinea pig died, and even gave it straw and a water bowl each night. Did I feel bad!
                This was in so many pieces and was obviously unrestorable, so I didn't even bother taking a photo. Humpy dumpty comes to mind. . I just sweep it up into a bag and went to bed. Then I thought how much it meant to her, felt guilty and got up and spent 2 hours trying to mend it with some Fimo modelling clay I found, and to my surprise the many parts went somehow together and I even bodged the many missing small pieces. I then cured it in the oven, hence the photo;

                image.jpg

                Grace was we happy when she saw it and treasures it even more now.

                  You forgot the most important one!

                    Hmmm; roast capybara, glass of Rioja; that's my idea of a snackette.

                    Fine work Dave.

                      If you sprayed the teddy with weld through primer it would take enough of a charge to accept the powder coating.

                      Might not remain cuddly though.

                        Has anyone else done something they were in the dog house for ? Myself a Joiner I decided to repair the creaking staircase before the new carpet went down
                        So the first Saturday they all went out I set to work, working my way down the stairs drilling holes and injecting PU expanding wood glue into every part of the stairs . then screwing all the timbers nice and tight . A great job no more creaks . Then my daughter came home admired my work and put her coat in the under stair cupboard and discovered the glue had dripped through all over her new leather coat and over my wife's uniform . There is nothing apart from sandpaper to remove PU glue once set it is seawater proof I slept in the shed. What have you done?. Good job it was my house and not a customer.

                            I had a boss who left his girlfriends puppy in his new BMW once, it chewed everything in site!
                            We have had our sofa and its replacement eaten in the past by our misunderstood labrador, that book Marley could have been about him! I have saved his neck many times, and he is now the most loyal dog and loves coming in the car wherever we go, to keep me company. After being stuck with him in a snowdrift in Wales I now keep a can of corned beef in the car under the seat for him, and a pack of RAF rations for me.

                              I bought a Stag - quickly followed by a "new" engine; but hey, I quite like shop doorways
