The nipple that is crimped onto the kickdown cable has come loose, so i cannot set the flippin thing up!
Could somone mesure the distance from the clevis pin hole to the nipple so i can have half a chance of getting it right please.

Dave, don't worry about it just set the cable adjustment by trial and error when you drive the car until your happy with the gear change and kickdown operation. To set the crimp properly you need to a attach a pressure gauge to the gearbox.

sorry about the short answer but I'm using my iPhone at present.

If you set it to drop into 3rd at between 16 and 19 mph at a whisper of throttle on a dead flat road that should be about right. Kickdown should be good at that setting too providing your linkage allows it to full throttle. Sometimes the throttle pedal needs a little bending to accomodate full throttle without fouling the carpets
