    central locking

hi all, does anyone know of a kit available to put central locking on the stag cheers

Maplins do one and there are numerous inexpensive kits on Ebay.

All can be made to fit although the boot lock, in particular, will need a little ingenuity and fettling.

    Cheers

I bought mine from Ebay,Alarm and central locking, boot unlocking and window closing. To reduce the wiring I didn't bother with a master solenoid as I don't use a key anymore. There are pictures in my album that might help.Cheers Graham

          Monarch do a full kit for the Stag, immobilser with keyless entry and central locking ;

(they also have an add-on for windows but no mention of boot locking)

I've already got an immboliser and fancy central locking, so will probably look at Maplins, Ebay or what I've done before on previous cars get a setup from a scrappy

The following outfit can supply a Thatcham Class 1 alarm, a dual zone microwave sensor suitable for convertibles and a couple of door solenoids for about £140.00.

Have to say that I rarely bother even locking mine, but do use a crook lock. I don't use the hard top so all a thief would have to do is 'break' through the soft top.

I must admit I dont get whole central locking thing on a Stag.
That said each to their own and if you want it,do it..

I have found though, generally that any additional wiring if not installed properly including with scotch lock connectors, usually comes back to bite you at some time..
If that is also connected to an imobiliser be prepared for hours of fun..

My modified car had a really fancy keyfob type immobiliser system on it and the first thing we did was rip it out and re-instate the wiring..

I agree with Richard about leaving the car unlocked,as many years ago thieves/vandals broke both the quarterlight glass on my car to get in and then did nothing.
Even my radio was left in place..

But remember that if you leave your car unlocked and it is stolen, you are going to have trouble with your Insurance company if they find out..

I know what you mean Sam and I remember thinking when it first started becoming common on modern cars 'how bloody lazy can you get ?'

However, go for a month with your daily car never using the central locking and then see if you think it's handy ! (and I know that's got four doors not two)

                  Cheers

I do understand what you are saying, but I guess I'm just lazy, to set the alarm, lock the doors and wind up the windows (when I forget) all at the touch of a button. I guess I think if the technology there why not use it

I don't know if is the same in England, but a few years back I had one of my minibuses nicked, they caught the guy in an hour or so, but when I made the police report they were very intent on me stating that the vehicle was locked. Apparently if it was unlocked they could only charge him with taking without the owners consent which carried a much lesser sentence than theft by forcing entry in to the vehicle. Graham
