    Boot trim instalation?

So I have a new set of cardboard panels and carpets for my boot.

The bits of carpet that glue onto the cardboard panels are bigger than the panels themselves, now do I stick them on and leave the excess hanging off the sides, or do I trim them to exactly cover the panels, or do I bend the excess carpet around the panel edges and glue onto the back?

Order of assembly, do I glue the carpet first to the wheel arches and seat back and then fit the panels with their attached carpets?

    Cheers
    Pete

Glue the carpet to the car and then do the boards. The surplus carpet is bent over and glued on the boards. I would use a spray glue on both sides. Glue comes off afterwards with white spirit easily.

    Good luck

do you have the cardboard panels that go vertically on the right and the left inside the boot, the right hand one is shaped to go around the fuel filler hose and the left is flat?.

Yes, and I just spent the morning trying to work out how that R/H one fits! Got it in place ok now though.
Thing is, the R/h one shows a shiny crinkled face to the inside of the boot, but I think the l/h one has been cut wrong as it presents the shiny black face to the inside of the wheel arch!
I was thinking of sending it back but as it wont be seen when the carpet is on, didnt see the point.

did mine last summer, B and Q sell a good spray on glue, obviously find a good work space away from the car spray both surfaces and leave for a couple of minute then put them together, a few hours bend the carpet over the back of the boards to see how they fit, I found it easier to cut the edges every six inches to about a quarter of an inch away from the edge to make it easier to lip over, then spray both sides and use the same process as before. but before glueing make sure you use a gavel to make the holes in the carpet for the screws(don't use a drill as this will catch onto the fibres and pull them out of the weave), when you fit the light board, glue it all in place and let it dry, then cut from the centre across to the four corners with a stanley knife, trim the overlap as required and then glue. hope this helps.
            cheers roger

              Didnt understand this bit.
The light board being the one that covers the rear lights?
So I glue the carpet on?
What an I cutting from what centre?
Do I still hide the excess behind this board or are you saying with this one I should trim to be an exact fit by cutting the carpet from the centre and working out to each corner?

              Cheers

yes, but there should be holes already cut in the board, to give access to replacing any bulbs that go, then the plastic covers go over the top. so initiallly you carpet over these holes in the light board, then cut, trim and glue after. Hope that makes sense, if it doe'snt maybe I can take a photo.

Yeah think Ive got it, so you do have overlap glued behind the board?

                  Cheers
