Thanks to Scotty, the following information has been received from dvla:-
To tax a vehicle for the first (e.g.1973 stags) time in the historic tax class; applications will need to be made by post to:
DVLA
Swansea
SA99 1DZ
Please send the following documentation:
You will receive an amended tax disc within 2 weeks.
An amended V5C reflecting the change of tax class will be received within 4 weeks
Form V10 can be downloaded from:
www.gov.uk/car-tax-disc-vehicle-licence-using-form-v10
--------------------------
I hope & imagine that if the vehicle was registered in 1973, no 'dating evidence' other than the registration document would be needed.
As far as I can gather applications sent too early for previously sorned cars e.g more than a week before April 1st might cause a problem...as in they would need back-payment for 1month tax during march as per the info on their website regarding applying too early for untaxed / sorned vehicles.
It might be that there are a large number of '73 vehicle owners wishing to do this & there could be a delay, but we also understand that displaying a tax disc will soon be no longer required....so if we experience a delay, what occurs if we drive during april without displaying a nil rated tax disc that we are awaiting for?
If anyone knows of another way please reply.
