I had a great weekend.
Saturday was a trip up to Antwerp to visit the Classic Car salon.
Very nice selection of cars (including many XK150s - is it a sign?) and a good selection of local clubs including the TR Register Belgium. Had a quick but formal chap with the three guys sitting on the sofas. Nice to chat with them but you do get the impression that if you are not Flemish speaking there is little interest. But they did invite me to email the organisers so I can get details of their events.
I then went on and met up with Pascal Quirynen, who kindly offered me a drink and we had a very good chat about all things motoring. He told me that the DB2 on the Houtkamp stand was on for 550,000 euros - incredible. I also met up with Geert Beets who is an Automobile Consultant. Today it was fresh and sunny and dry. The TR6 burst into life on the first attempt. But I found for the first 30 minutes or so there was a very discernible lag in power after changing gear, like the fuel was lumpy. Sorted out after about half an hour. Filled up with petrol and it was smooth for the rest of the day. Lots of admiring looks and thumbs up. Saw a very pleased with himself chap in an early and gorgeous white XK120, an Austin Healey Frog-eyed Sprite, an MG TF, a Porsche 356B, a Porsche 914 and an old Corvette.
A great day out with the Fraulein. Nothing better than a blast in the 6. Love that car. Cannot wait for the Stag to arrive...
