Door skins!

Hi all,

I am soon going to start repairing my doors! I have two spare doors that I am going to replace the bottoms of and then re skin!

My question is, are the Stag tooling fund skins worth the extra cost? Do they fit that much better?

Who ever restored my stag before seems to have replaced the doors but left mega gaps, so I would like to close these up a little. I think they have repaired the "B" post but it is a strange shape so I may have to strip this back to get he doors to fit well!

Any input would be useful, I have looked at the flying farmers account of changing the skins etc, it is an excellent overview of what is required.

When you say they are a good fit, is that on the door frames or in the door opening on the car?

I'm absolutely no bodywork expert but my car has got a very large gap behind the N/S door. I've read on here that others (Edd & Drew ??) have had to build up the trailing edge of the door to get a good panel gap, however I don't know if those were SOCTFL panels or not.

The money saved buying non SOCTFL skins can more than be eaten up spending time getting them to fit. Buy the best, you know it makes sense....

On the subject of door skins - I definately need a new drivers door skin - but does anyone know if SOCTFL would post one out to Tenerife?

They are a good fit to the door frame I think if you checked the size of the door aperture on 10 stags 5 of them would be different

Where did you buy them from Brian, when I emailed mike Allen (SOCTFL Chairman) about buying one if it could be shipped to Tenerife, he told me to contact a retailer who sells them but didn't say which retailers do.

All the main ones sell them Terry. You just have to specify in the order. I got mine from Paddocks:
