Help needed. I replaced my radiator a couple of months ago, and now I'm having nothing but trouble with overheating, after about 5 minutes of running the expansion tank is full of under pressure water, the other pipes are cold, but the pipes into the heater are very hot, I tested my thermostat and it seemed to work, I realise I may have an air lock somewhere but don't understand how as I flushed the system through. also when I top up the radiator and start it up water come out of the top of the radiator. I'm starting to lose it now.Anyway time to put the rugger on to watch wales and scotland. Any thing advice/ ideas welcome before I go and by a gallon of petrol and set fire to it.
Hi
Im sure there is air in the system of your stag, as has been said before raising front does help with the refilling and what I do is to fill up with water with the car on ramps. Never have trouble this way but did before I did this.

Have you made sure you have the heater valve open (set to the hot position) Jack up the N/S/F corner and run it with the plug out of the Rad filler and heater control on "Hot" once the thermostat opens you should see flow, let it run for a few minutes then top it up and fit the plug. Do this with the pressure cap on the expansion bottle and filled to a 1/3rd.
Ian.
Wise men ignore the advice of fools, but fools ignore the advice of wise men sigpic
jacked the front up, left rad filler off and started it, (heater on). loads of bubbles and water level dropped, topped it up, and fingers crossed the gauge did'nt even get to half way after 20 minutes!!!, so fingers crossed, I'll take him for a spin in the morning. Thanks all hopefully problem solved.
