Hi Keith, no never worked in Croydon, but wife comes from Fleet. Like you I tried for a lighter dash, but had no joy so in the end fitted what was sent. Figured at £60.00 was worth a go. (it is a pity that company is not that responsive) Found the dash no trouble to remove, disconnect battery. Drop steering wheel to lowest position, remove 4 screws, disconnect speedo drive ( when free put a bit of tape around curled nut to stop it slipping right down. Disconnect trip mileage cable. I removed each connection from the dials and used masking tape with what it was written on, had no problems on re install. I also could not remove choke knob, seemed to be glued on, so removed complete cable disconnecting from carbs. Rest of wood is just a matter of unscrewing as required. To make sure all polish etc was removed from wood I used wet and dry paper and flatted it down. Regarding Dash lighting I used LED screwbase E10 bulbs 12v these are a direct replacement, Except for clock if you have one ( I didn`t). I got them off ebay from Modbase, very helpful co, ( I just looked on their shop site and they currently out of stock of white. I also bypassed the dimmer control, leaving unit in place I would have done this even if I did not fitted LED bulbs. I used a 3 way spade terminal from Auto Electrical Spares ref 231031268565 again ebay. Hope all this helps if I have missed any thing please ask.

Thanks also for the LED info, I'll put that on a future project.
I used to work with a guy called Ray Smith but you, like me, have a name used by loads of people.
Cheers
Keith

I have fitted 5 of these kits all very good, what you need to do before fitting is use a BLACK felt tip pen and colour all the holes where the clocks and switches fit also all around the outer edge this helps where the stick on dash does not cover properly, also make sure you rub down the old veneer as it wont stick to well on it, also a hair dryer or black and decker paint stripper to warm the sections up helps regards.
