    Plastic Door Cards

I have always had difficulties keeping the door cards clipped to the doors. I have the LD clips, new plastic bushes and they do stay there for a while, but if the passenger door is slammed, then the clips don't hold. I have decided that the cards are the problem as they are a bit warped and so I started looking for an alternative. I came across someone on ebay offering plastic cards (see following link).

They are offered on Buy it Now for £65 a pair. Has anyone had any experience with these? If so are they any good, and how did you fix the vinyl trim?

Judging by the Ebay name and location, I would guess these could be from Jim Van Gent at South East trimmings, who advertises in the magazine.

If so, I would think they'll be good, as the quality of what he produces is exceptional - the only thing is that some people, me included, have sometimes experienced difficulties in communicating with him.

I like the idea of a plastic door card (if not the price ) and I expect you could fix the trim with a good quality staple gun - ensuring you use the right length of staple. I'm sure Jim would give advice n this.

    Cheers

my brother has them fitted to his car,the door panels stay in place no problems,on my brothers car the leather is glued to the board, but there's know reason why you could not use staples 6mm

Dave, is it a solid plastic (in cross section or when cut through) or does it have a foam or cell like structure?

                  Cheers

                            another thought...

How about using some marine ply? water resistant, easy to obtain, cheap(er) and simple to cut to shape.

                            Just an idea...

                              Guys,
I got a set of these a while back - make an offer, to the seller, and you get them cheaper.
Just got around to making them up and the white plastic is 3mm thick - same as original board?
I used glue and 4mm staples - anything much longer will go through and staple to table !!!!!
Not on car yet but seem simple enough so far.
