Stainless sill strips - where to fit?

Hi would someone that has the shiny sill covers (the ones outside - not the kick plates) offer a tiny bit of advice please.
I bought a S/H pair of the little narrow strips that run along above where the bigger covers go, but I need to know where to attach them so that should I ever want to add the lower wider covers, they are in the right place.
The strips are not as wide as the ridge in the body work, so should they go centrally along there, or aligned with the top edge, or aligned with the bottom edge. It just needs a quick glance on a car that has the complete covers.
I meant to look at some of the cars at the W Sussex meet, but it was getting dark and I forgot!
    Thanks in anticipation, Andy

In the middle. My "restoration nightmare" has the full covers. I forgot to take the chance of filling the holes when l had it resprayed as l prefer the thin stipe. But both look naf.........

      Hi Andy
I dont have a car with the thin strips here, however on my first Stag I had the thin strips that fit on the ridge part.
The full covers I fitted later then went in below and only over the curved sill part..
So no problems with fitting at all..hope I have explained that well enough

I agree with ya there - my current stag has both fitted and the thin strip ones are going to be removed

Thanks guys, I just had the common sense to look at some Stag photos on Facebook / ebay etc and now realise that the narrow trims are a separate item to the sill covers. I had thought that the sill covers needed to use the narrow trims for support but looking at the photos it seems people either have none or one or the other. As for what looks best. ... well that's all down to personal views I guess. I like the wide trims but fear they may trap water and make rust more likely.

Just fit them with stainless Steel self tappers and remove the covers every now and then to clean behind them - also squirt a load of wax on them and the sills when fitting them.

Here you go. Removed the retro-fitted full covers on mine and found a heap of rot and bodges hidden behind. New sill fitted and Stag returned to how Triumph intended it when it was built.

I agree..Especially on dark colours and white. To me the lines flow better without the stripes and chrome..

I used to always say mine is having a stripe but at present i,m in two minds . Loving that picture without . Nothing like a naked stag .

I agree took my stripes off, but today decided to take the chrome sills off, wish I hadn't what I found behind wasn't good, where water had been trapped the near side sill had started to get rust on it, in fact a quarter of an in hole appeared when I rubbed it back, the off side was a little better with several rust spots. so I will need to weld the hole up as the sills are to good to replace. So when I get the chance the sill will be bare metaled and painted. no more chrome sills!!.

Here are two pictures with and without chrome strip. I don't know about you but frankly to me there's not much difference.
