Timing chain tensioner

Removed cam shaft covers and nuts missing on both tensioners. Is this deliberate or a fault. Nut should be in middle of sprocket driving cam This has been noticed on 2 stags of friends. Any advice or thoughts?

Nuts only fitted when you are removing cams or heads to secure sprockets to holding brackets, retaining chain tension - in normal service nothing should be fitted

You and your friends should RTFM.......for example Repair Operation Manual 12.65.22 sheet 2 item 18
