    "Bubbles"

My wife & I are off on another Cruise this Saturday (Cape Verde Islands plus Gambia & Senegal sailing from Santa Cruz), so was looking forward to some champagne bubbles whilst away (it's a belated 40th Wedding Anniversary present to ourselves).
However my Stag has started to give me some "bubbles" too, on the drivers door which needs urgent attention before it gets too bad (see pic).

Local bodywork man (Geordie Paul) has agreed to do it whilst we are away although I really need a new door skin, but it's getting one to Tenerife that
is the problem. At least he should be able to treat it to make it last a bit longer whilst I make enquiries as to the feasibility & cost of getting a skin to me here.
Will post an "after" picture when I get back.

By the way I have had no comeback whatsoever re my articles in the mag "50 years of Motoring History" - Part 4 due in May's edition.
Perhaps I should just stick to the day job of swimming & sunbathing by the Pool and playing snooker, and not bother writing anything else.

Always write the articles! Some of us appreciate the effort and time taken but don't always respond directly to the writer. I wrote articles for months on two separate car club jobs (one was for over two years) and I don't think I got more than two or three direct responses but I did get "comments" at venues later so I know the articles were read and appreciated by some!

    Keep up the writing!

If it's only the bubbling as shown in the photo a good panel man should be able to repair without the need for a new skin

Many members enjoy the articles, they are the silent majority, keep writing please

To the other "Terry" and others who have replied. The door is only "bubbling" at the bottom where shown, but it has already been repaired twice before (that I know of) so there might not be much metal left at the bottom to work with. I enjoy writing and hope that at least someone has enjoyed reading my latest mag article(s), but when no one says anything you don't know if what you have written has been appreciated or not. It is like when the wife says "you never say you love me any more" so she thinks the opposite. I recently wrote an autobiography available on Amazon in ebook form entitled "Escape to Tenerife" and at least that has sold a couple of copies although I didn't write it to make money, just something to leave for the kids (and grandkids) to read when I've gone that shows them that I had a great time back in the 60s & 70s living life to the full and driving some great cars. I also wrote a travel book about a previous Cruise round the Polynesian Islands, but haven't checked if anyone has bought that - it's called "Tenerife to Tahiti" by the way and has got pictures of several New Zealand Stags in it.

Definitely keep up the writing, club magazines have very little in them without this sort of article.

I keep getting pestered to do an article on my various Toledos by the Triumph Dolomite Club. I did make a start last year but lost it all when my old computer died as I hadn't backed it up!

              Hi Terry,

yep, as others have said, keep on writing !

i know what you mean about lack of feedback and I'm as guilty as most.

I used to write anecdotes on here about my entire working life that was spent in the car industry. I got no feedback and so assumed people found it irritating or of no interest and so I've stopped bothering to write them these days.

              cheers

Know what you mean Terry. My France road trip article is in there this month, no mention on here about and you do wonder if people read them. But as Julian says, I'm as guilty as anyone because I read them and never give feedback

I read about your adventure and thought it was excellent. Terry I haven't read part 3 yet as I tend to read the mag over the month and not in one session. However I certainly enjoyed the previous instalments. To all you guys who submit articles please keep doing so as I for certainly enjoy them. Don't however expect me to send one in though as my wrighting skills are abismal.
                  Cheers Rob.

Thanks Guys - maybe I won't give up writing articles just yet, and I am as guilty as anyone else because I enjoy reading articles other people write in the magazine but have never written in to say so. Didn't there used to be a "Letters" section in the magazine in the past, if this was resurrected we could send emails in saying how much we enjoyed a particular article or piece and perhaps that would encourage others to submit something.

                        Terry,

I've enjoyed your articles as well as Jason's French road trip one (on here as well as in the Magazine), but have not said so before. I've also had no feedback either on the 2 part one I did on my Stag restoration, published November/December 2012 so I wouldn't take it personally!

                        Enjoy your cruise!

                        Cheers,
                        Mike.

I'm surprised that myself drew Neil and all others doing big resto projects never get a mention or are contacted . The odd mention in the forum section but for those not on the forum they are missing out on some great work going on and interesting pictures. I'm yet to read jasons trip . Maybe start a magazine thread pinned to the top if the forum so it doesn't slip down and get forgotten.
