    Confirmation of Stainless steel parts.

Before I attack various parts with Solvol Autosol, I just want confirmation that the following parts are in fact stainless and not chrome.
Iam confident that the door frames, the windscreen trip and the toneau cover trim are all stainless, but what about the big "B" post covers?

    Cheers

B post covers are stainless as are the tread plates on the door sills. I am pretty confident the door frames are too, as you say.

      Hi Pete,

What's your worry about using Autosol on chrome ?

      Cheers

My thoughts too. I'd be more concerned about using it on stainless as it can leave plenty of microscratches.
        The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

I have tried Autosol to polish stainless in the past, it doesn't scratch it but it doesn't polish it either. I think with stainless the only way to shine it up is to use a cloth buffing wheel with a polish designed for stainless steel. I haven't done a lot of research but I did a bit of googling a few months ago and there do seem to be bars of polish for stainless.

Auto Solvol is an abrasive, it will quickly ruin chrome, the only time I use it on chrome is if I need to remove the bluing on exhaust pipes, even then I will soften the Solvol by using it on alloy first, even then it removes the sparkle from Chrome.

I treat chrome like paintwork, will only use wax.
If you have any rust that needs removing, I use the orange Jenolite first.

Solvol will polish stainless, ableit with difficulty, a more abrasive polish might be required but I do find Solvol gives stainless more of a sparkle providing its not too tarnished.
