    Replacement Soft Top and Frame

Stag nearly ready for the road !!!, one problem is that I can not get the hood and frame to sit down far enough to be able to shut the cover, this rests on the "pins" of the front clamps therefore about 1" off shutting properly, tried tucking the hood away in various ways but it will not go down far enough, as the hood is "shot at" anyway I have decided to replace it but would like to get it down so I can use the car in guaranteed sunny weather, I could just remove the 2 no front fixing clamps for now. !

With ref to replacing the hood and possibly the framework where is the nearest place "Up North", I am based on the outskirts of Cumbria/Lancashire ?

I can combine with a business trip to Bicester OX26 4UL or Bishops Stortford CM23 5GZ if anyone is near these places.

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Andrew,

Have you got the back section secured in the stowage clips? Have you tried a drop of oil on all the pivots? It only takes one or two of the pivots to be slightly seized to prevent the hood from folding properly, particularly the ones in the corner of the header rail. Failing that, one of the frame sections could be bent. V mad on here is well versed on the Stag hood and worth contacting.

Not tried too much yet other than fighting with it, I will get some time over the next 4 days (after some gardening!) so I will look at it a bit closer.

      Thanks for the advice.

Jim Van Gent at SE Trimming can do you a hood and frame exchange by mail order - he makes his own hood covers and builds them up on a Stag shell so they fit right first time. He can do various colours too.

I'm very happy with mine as are many others on here - he advertises in the back of the mag...
