Hi - anybody used Bracken Brae garage north of Norwich for repairs or restoration? They seem to look after a lot of stags. Need someone to fix blown head gasket...so looking at a possible full engine rebuild. NIghtmare...have been told by several people I'm looking at £4k

Hi Norfolkstag.
I think they are well respected in Norfolk stag owners circle. I was going to get my timing chains replaced there but decided to do it myself. My brother in law who runs a garage service on the opposite side of the road uses them for MOTs. Good luck with your engine rebuild.

What was your engine like before the head gasket went?, phone Chris Liles he will put you in contact with someone that uses said garage that you can have a chat with.

Thanks - got in touch with Chris who has had a fair bit of work done by Bracken Brae. Had the car for about 4 years and totally trouble free in that time. Lots of mechanical work before I bought it which is why I was a bit surprised when head gasket went in fairly spectacular fashion on A11. Thanks again.

I'm in Norwich down the road from you. I used Caroline's Cars in Ashwellthorpe - Derick there has done several jobs on my Stag including head gasket replacement and head refurb. Can give you their number if you're interested

I had my car completely restored by them around 8 years ago and they have done my servicing and MOT's ever since. Father and Son outfit who seem to know the cars inside out. Very pleased with what they did for me at the time and since. To be honest they didn't need to rebuild my engine (Its about the only thing they didn't have to do ! but they would certainly be my first point of call because they will give you some honest advice and will probably know the best place to go locally if they can't do the rebuild.

Many thanks Dylan.....we met when you were selling your brown stag and I came to view it - nice car but I couldn't live with Brown (!) . You'd just acquired your 'new tricks' car from the tv series. Hope its been a good one.
