Going to a Safari Park with a Stag?

There is a report in this morning's paper of a car, possibly a peoples carrier, overheating in the lions enclosure of the Longleat Safari Park and catching fire. The occupants had to be rescued by the rangers of the park. Now we all know a Triumph Stag never overheats and therefore it would have been better to use a Stag, no doubt with the hard top on, to go into the park and come out without any problems. Has anyone gone to a safari park in their Stag?

ND was held at a safari park a few years back, we weren't allowed in with carnivores without the hardtop on, can't imagine why, health and safety gone mad I say!

We went on an evening safari in the dark in an open topped Land Rover when in South Africa at Xmas.
Came across a pride of lions, less than 30m away. Was a little concerned with the whole family 'exposed', the guide wasn't!

Hello Rod i had an experience in a safari park some years back (not in the stag) bloody scary i can tell you, we were charged and hit by a rhino, i had a mondeo estate, a powerful car, there we were enjoying the sight of a full grown male rhino staring at us broadside on 10 yards away, we clicked away with the camera when all of a sudden this thing took off towards us, now luckily i was ticking over in gear with my foot on the brake (it was an auto), luckily no one was parked in front, i floored it and every one was slung backwards ,trout nearly swallowed her false teeth, the kids were covered in coke, now this car could move from standing at fair rate of knots but this rhino still made the ground and hit us a glancing blow on the rear wing, but we were away and a speck in the distance by the time this thing managed stop and look where we had gone.
On inspection of the car outside there was scratch in a straight line from the rear door to the lights at the rear of the car, we were going so fast the rhino's horn just glanced along the car, all we felt was a slight bump.
So remember when you go to safari parks do not play with rhino's...Steve

          Hello,

some years ago I was in Massai Mara Park in Kenya in a Toyota Landcruiser driven by a local person. We stopped near a herd of elephants. One of the bulls eyed us angrily already, but the driver calmed us down saying: "Don't worry, I keep the engine runníng". When the bull sudenly attacked, the engine stalled. Thank Goodness it was only a mock attack and the bull stopped about five metres away. Phew!

Kind regards and a Happy Easter to all of you,
          Dieter from Germany.

I went in the safari park that day, due to my new softtop not arriving in time I borrowed Arbman Al's vinyl covered hardtop. The Rangers wizzed across to us several times trying to make us leave the enclosure and each time I had to bang on the roof to convince them it wasn't a softtop!

Hello Dieter this safari park was the less exotic location of Woburn in Beds. but i assume the carnage would have been the same as in Kenya had this thing connected as it intended.
Thanks for your Easter wishes Dieter but i have eaten way to much chocolate and i feel sick now.....Steve ( what a bunter)
