    Penrite oil

With an oil change fast approaching I have been thinking...

I have always used Millers semi synthetic engine oil and I am really delighted with it. However, my local stockist does not stock it anymore but I do have a local stockist for Penrite, who recommend the HPR 15 for the Stag. This is a full synthetic classic oil but as I have no experience of it I was wondering if anyone else uses it? Anyone recommend / not recommend it?

    Thanks
    Brian.

I use Valvoline VR1 now - cannot beat it for keeping the pressure and cleanliness and if you've got a Europarts near you they often have it on a very good dsicount.

    Cheers

      Hi,

I got a recommendation for the Penrite HPR 30 (SAE 20W-60) from other Stag owners and use it without problems. It's a fully mineral oil.

Penrite also recommends this type for the Stag on its website (http://www.datateck.com.au/Lube/PenriteAus/).

        Hi Brian,

I also use Millers semi synthetic (good to see that I'm in good company) and I've been very pleased with it - their MD has got a Stag apparently. If you get on Opie oils mailing list, they often have very good offers on the Millers which brings it to a good price - unfortunately they've just finished their -20% easter offer.

Millers have also just introduced a new fully synthetic Classic oil - with high ZDDP - that I'm very tempted to use next time.

Sorry, can't help about the Penrite though.

        Cheers

        Julian

          Hi Brian

Both our cars are running on Penrite Classic 20W:50 as stocked by Paddocks. We have been using since 2007 in the Stag and 2008 in the GT6. Both cars record good oil pressure.

          Regards

          Bruce

              Hi folks,

Many thanks for the replies. I'd rather stick with Millers if I'm honest, but getting it delivered will be a pain so I may give the Penrite a go and see what happens...

I change it every 3000 miles which is 3 months for me so being able to buy oil off the shelf makes it a little easier!

              Brian.

Wouldn't this work for you Brian ? http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68913-mi...ngine-oil.aspx

Their delivery charges are pretty reasonable plus, as I mentioned, if you get one of their offers it makes it even better.

Maybe you could enquire about their 60 litre special !!

                Cheers

                  Hi Julian,

Thanks for the link, I have not used Opie Oils but I will now be ordering from them this week! I think I need the 60 litre special, at least it would last me a little while!

                  Thanks again
                  Brian

                    That's great Brian,

Just make sure you get on to Opie's mailing list as they do often have great deals

                    Cheers

VR1 for me, just bought some for £26.34, 5 litres at Euro Car Parts, luckily they are just down the road from where I work!
