    Bolting engine to engine stand?

I'm wanting to attach my engine to an engine stand, so I can work on it.
I've taken the flywheel etc off. Do the 4 bolts attach into the block, as in the bolt/hole I'm pointing too in this photo.
The diameter of these bolts doesn't seem that much? [says the person who built his RV8 on a trestle table, only to have it collapse during Xmas dinner!]

I'm guessing I'll need to find 4 bolts 9-10cm long with the correct diameter and thread, and pack any surplus with washers?

    Thanks'
    Dave.

Understand why you're doubtful Dave but think what the shear strength is on 4 x 10mm bolts ? you've plenty in hand.

I generally replace the gearbox adaptor plate and bolt it to that.
Bolting directly to the block leaves me struggling to get the legs of the bit that attaches to the block close enough together without offsetting the engine far enough from the centre line of the stand to make it difficult to turn over.

that's a pic of my spare engine on the stand; held on with studs and nuts rather than bolts

Much like Neil I used the gearbox adapter plate and bolted to that.

                  Thanks everyone,
I've popped along to Namrick and sorted out a set of bolts to bolt through the adapter plate.

I was never confident with an engine stand on those 5/16 threads . I put my sump on last and then used two blocks of wood going from the edge of the block to the ground as some support . When the heads go on its gets really heavy . Putting the sump on too early also sets yourself up for bad sealing of the front cover and also eliminates the chance of falling bolts washers going into the sump . good luck Dave
