    How to find the colour

Is there any way of finding out the exact colour of one's Stag? Like via the number plate details or something.

I'm having a 'tidy up' regarding dents and scratches and the whole boot lid needs painting as well as the dented and scratched bits.

I'd describe it as navy blue.

How many 'dark blue' variants are there?

If anyone knows this ( and maybe how to win the lottery) then I'd be very appreciated .....

    Thanks all!!

Try this: http://www.stagbytriumph.co.uk/ . Click on the colours to see examples.

Mine is Sapphire Blue which I would consider navy blue:

      Depends who painted it last.

The Commission plate on the B pillar gives the code number for paint and trim colour (whoever repainted mine was helpful enough to also paint the colour on to the commission plate!). However .... there is something to what jakesmig said; is the car the original colour with original paint? If not somebody may have painted it with something "close" or even something completely different. Still, a competent paint shop should still be able to match paints.

Yours is easy: Code 19 = Primer.

Unfortunately an earlier owner of the vehicle had a 'tidy up' (some restoration) and didn't put the commission plate. In fact they didn't put anything back on the car - including (for example) the tyre PSI plate. So no clues there.

That paintwork looks exactly like mine .......... on the web!
Aren't there two colours that are very close to that sort of blue?

It does look similar though - along with the leather!!

I hope you don't mind me asking - but why do you have EU plates on an old British classic? Just wondering...

Well - I have got two paints here....

A touch up brush with the label 'austin rover nautilus' and a small pot of paint called bu96 saphire blue (nice to see they can't spell sapphire correctly on their pots!!).

Neither of them are correct to my blue. the pot (bu96) is slightly too dark

However.... royal blue.... I might have to do some research on that. Cheers!

My car started life as British Racing Green. It has been resprayed and is similar to BRG now, however I have four different cans of BRG touch up- all from very reputable paint suppliers - and none quite matches my car.

I had a professional bodyshop paint my hardtop a while ago and they made a fabulous job of matching the colour to the car and they gave me a small pot of the paint which I use whenever I need to touch any bits up. Maybe that would be your best solution.

                        Cheers

Because every time I jump in I am cruising the boulevards of southern France . Also, it came with them.

Thinking of swapping to some black and whites though.

That could be my nightmare - I will need panels painted because I want some dents taken out. Bl**dy hell this is going to be tricky. - I REALLY don't want to have a full body respray - I suspect that might be 'expensive' , shall we say. B*gger

This is REALLY off topic but I swapped to black and white. It gives it that 'proper classic look'. But keep the old ones and some blue tack if the MOT garage is strict enough to complain about the age regarding plates.

My two pet hates (re: cars) - is middle lane hoggers (I know someone who drives in the middle lane because she thinks it is safer being in the middle!)

The other one is EU plates on classic British cars. Lets just say - I'm not the EU's biggest fan! I've been driven in a British car loads of times in France without a GB sign at all.
My pet hate is that BMW took the British marque names when they stole the mini (my other love is minis). No-one can use Triumph, Wolesley, Austin, etc because BMW have the sole rights to those names despite them not making cars with those names. So if there was a new Triumph Stag in the future it would be a clinical BMW. There's a lot of unfair practise when BMW took the rights to the mini, with a little help from the EU. Ok, rant over!
That doesn't solve my flippin' problem. Weird to think that your car is a different colour to mine yet it looks exactly the same. I really don't want a full respray!
