Should I go for a spin on oil filter ?

I have not had to buy a filter for a number of years due to a big bulk purchase 50 + some years ago however I was surprised how awkward it was to buy the correct filter should I now bite the bullet and go for a spin off conversion ?
Standard stag thrashed and enjoyed, Nissan Murano ( very underrated, very thirsty, very fast)

I've got a spin on adaptor and what I have found is that the square seal the adaptor sits against starts leaking after a couple of years so it's not fit and forget but a maintainable item in itself. I have done the seals 2 or 3 times now.
    Cheers Steve

Likewise. Fortunately some of the suppliers now stock this seal as a separate item. I've had to buy a cheap cartridge filter in the past and use the seal from it.

I've been using a spin adapter for years but only in the past few weeks suffered issues of incontinence, I bought two sets from the brothers I also replaced my transfer housing o rings when I took them off they were hard and brittle and useless to stop leaks as were the two rings in the spin on . heat issues I expect amongst other things . easy to change out though and worth keeping spares' like the containment and simplicity of the canister filters .

Pleased to say had one for many years and never had a leak from it - I use replacement canisters from LD now but you can get a bigger filter from some other suppliers.

Been using spin on adaptors on all my engines for years and never had one leak yet.

But I bet I will now having tempted fate!

I prefer the convenience of the spin on filters, and so far, touch wood, no leaks after two years.

              Cue leak!

              But it is easily sorted.

I've wondered about fitting one, especially as I've found it impossible to stop the original leaking. Now I've got a dry back end (careful!) I'd like to go for gold.....

The only thing that stopped me ordering it (beyond the price!) was a suggestion that the centre threaded portion tended to come unscrewed on removal of the canister. Anyone had that happen?

                Regards
