Alternative car seats

My front seats could do with a refurb before too long. A recent thread about fitting fiat seats got me wondering what other seats could be or have been successfully fitted to a stag.

I have heard of, but not seen people have fitted Rover Coupe/tomcat seats.
I also wondered about alfa seats (e.g 147/156) as with their vertical seams they are not too dissimilar to stag seats (e.g like the following) and it looks like they are fairly common. It may be possible to pick up a good set for a lot less than refurbishing the stag ones.

Has anyone tried fitting anything like these ?

Do a search, lots of info and pictures.
I have Recaro seats in mine, quite simple really you just need to fabricate adapter brackets to match you seat of choice to the tapped holes in the floorpan.

Ahh must be top secret info
Most things on a stag will cost more to keep originality , mine are at the trimmers now , leather flutted seats underside webbing as opposed to a rubber band . I must admit I do like those Alfa seats . Most good trimmers can make a stag seat more sumptuous I think a classic car and all it's faults are part of the fun .

The PO on my car has fitted Rover TomCat seats. See attached. There are some other photos on here if you look under "seat belts" where you can see others interiors.

The fake 'leather' is almost identical to the original Stag trim fortunately.

Thanks for all the replies. I was particularly interested to see that a couple of you have managed to replace the rear seats as well to match your replacement front ones (e.g tomcat seats and recaro's). Can I ask, was this part of the job difficult ? I hadn't considered this option as I assumed there was little chance of fitting the exact width of the existing ones.
I guess this makes it a bit harder for me as it would make it harder to find what i'm looking for (but would make the finished result even better).

What car are they out of ? I have been looking at Capri and Astra Recaro seats but would be interested to know where yours are from.
Also did they need much modification to get the fronts to fit ?

They aren't out of any car.
Recaro make seats for car manufacturers, but they also sell seats to the aftermarket. These where new aftermarket, that's why I could buy matching leathercloth from Recaro so my trimmer could retrim my rear seats to match.
Recaro seats, certainly the aftermarket range, all have the same bolt pattern. These are actually the second set, I found some alternatives that I preferred so they just bolted straight in, on the same adapter brackets.
See the pictures of the adapter brackets.
I actually now have the advantage of the seats being lower (I'm 6'4") with more legroom in the front.
It's a nice mod!

No secret these are the temporary seats in my stag, and as the trimmer rang me today to say mine are ready for collection these are now for sale, one is at home the other is still in the stag at Faversham Classics. So available soon. They fit straight into the original fixing holes and adjust backwards/forewards and recline.

I tried Recaro seats in my Stag once. They just looked out of place, as they were simply too big - although comfortable and safe.

I've got a pair of older Recaros out of an Escort I think. Managed to get vinyl in biscuit to match my rear seat and trim and also got some basket weave material for the centres so should match well. Only trouble is they have been at the Trimmers for at least two years, I must chase him about them.
