hi, am new to stag ownership and though I had triumphs for 30 years, would appreciate advise on what I wish to do and if it would work!, apart from having to repair the bodywork,electrics,running gear etc, I am going to use the stag as my daily drive and commute to work and as such am going to fit a webber carb, water pump conversion and expansion tank . I have read the threads a fair bit to get an idea but have no specifics. first as my car has the 2x four branch manifolds on it, if I fit the stagwebber conversion I take it, it will need rejetting/setting up otherwise it will run lean! has anyone already run this set up with the manifolds and could tell me the settings/jets area I am looking for? before I go to a rolling road for final check, also with the water pump conversion would an expansion tank set up still work as i have seen on the forum, as I have seen some debate on this and where it should plumb in!
hopefully have her up and running to see the autumn sunshine, will be posting pictures of the work as I go, at the moment though it runs on 8 it misses often but not regular , checked compression and is ok, even though its be laid up more or less since 1984 the heads seem fine so I am putting it down to air leak/ and or carbs, wiring is a total loss, so a second hand main one has been purchased and a very kind soc member has given me a centre consule loom
if anyone has a lightswitch and/or rheostat ,also a complete steering column with all wiring or indicator/flasher stalk and a ignition switch/wiring would be an absolute wonder!
