South Cheshire - North Staffs Stags, Where are you off to Tomorrow Then?

Should be the best day of the year, so far, tomorrow. Where are you off to?

Despite still not having sorted out my vibration that comes in at 50mph, was intending to go for a blast somewhere. Just not sure where yet!

Might have a run out to Moreton Corbet Castle after lunch, as mentioned by Peter in the thread he recently posted: http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthr...trol-evaporate

Any other suggestions for an afternoon in the sun.........picnic spot maybe????

    Cheers
    Keith

Not for tomorrow, but on Sunday I might be going to Sleap Aerodrome (near Whitchurch) for breakfast.

This old WW2 airfield has a free entry museum of aviation archeology and a cafe in the control tower.

I've not been before so don't know if it is any good, but beats cutting the lawns!
Bereft of a Triumph of any description.

Thanks Peter, that sounds interesting, just had a look on their website and there is the 'Golding Barrett Trophy Aerobatic Competition' on tomorrow, might go there instead!

      Cheers

Giving the old girl a rest tomorrow.she might get a short stretch out but shes done her deed this week.
We drove through very near you guys today in an attempt to avoid overheating on the M5. Left the M5 at the A449 towards Kidderminster Lunch at the Land Oak Kidderminster before heading towards Shrewsbury then by Telford to the A49 to Warrington and so to home... She deserves her rest now!

Fitted a new ignition switch this morning, and took the Stag for a half hour run to see if all was ok, great weather for top down driving,

          cheers Tony

Spent yesterday at an Autosolo at Lymm Services by the M6 / M56 junction. Didn't participate but did some timekeeping. Loadsa rubber and petrol smells and some enthusiastic driving, especially by three Rage Buggies. Excellent stuff and hoping to do it again in a few weeks.

Peter, did you go to the aerodrome? I had to change plans so did not go. I decided to fit the missing fuel tank vent/drain hoses to my Stag, which I thought would only take around an hour, errr, well 4 hours later....... so just went for a run out to the Combermere Arms at Burley Dam.

We had only been there a few mins when two other classics rolled up.

I would post a few pics, but the USELESS forum image uploading option is not working for me atm. Will try later...

              Cheers

                    No.

Following my post on Friday about leaking petrol, I was faffing about trying to resolve that.

Having identified that it was coming from the carb overflow, I used the search facility on the forum and saw that the likely suspects were sticking needle valves.

My limited mechanical skills make be nervous of dissecting carbs when I don't know what I'm doing, but I saw your post earlier in the year about treating your car to an "Italian tune up" so I gave each carb a bit of a whack with a rubber mallet, then with my phone and AA card in the glove box went off to J15 of the M6 where I drove the Stag like I'd stolen it up to J16

Seems to have worked albeit maybe temporarily. I stopped half a dozen times on the way back and there were no leaks.

Back to Sleap Aerodrome. Us local lads should meet up for a fat-boy breakfast one weekend. See what the forecast is on a Friday, then if it looks sunny, a quick email around and meet up at 9.00am on the Saturday or Sunday whilst our other halves are still in bed snoring their little heads off. Wonder around the museum, stuff ourselves with cholesterol, make fun of Bruce and back home by late morning...
