e bay returning goods

Having won a set of tread plates on e bay advertised as good with no dents I was pleased . I paid the £15 . They arrived well packaged and on opening then they are awful totally cover it dents scratches that are very deep also . e mailed the guy only to get no response . I started a claim and he agreed a refund . my return post will cost about £6 more for signed for which in this case I prefer . so you know what ! there going in the bin and I'm leaving awful feedback . How can anyone do this . I'm glad I have lost the money to warn others . Please check out feed back whilst on e bay.

Edd you are entitled to get the postage too. I wouldn't bin them yet.

I belive Andrew is correct on this did they not change the rules that if you win your case your postage is also refunded. Also by him paying the postage hopefully he will learn his lesson, if you bin them he gets away with it to do it to somone else.

EBay should send you a postage label so that there is no cost to you.

Its too late now guys , i wish i had asked for advice from you all before learning this. i really thought i had to pay as he insisted i pay the postage , with that said i thought ok then you,ll get negative feedback . i,m still glad all the time posting and e mailing to sort this out then put into my labour being self employed outweighs any real time sense . Very annoying , its not the money its the principle . Here are the treads you would you be happy when bought as good condition small marks will polish out no dents .

If the goods are "not as described" then the seller must stand the return postage costs. The Distance Sellng Regulations cover this, but many ebay sellers don't understand them, it seems.

The last time I tried to return a faulty suspension arm for a BMW back to a powerseller they wriggled and twisted with so many excuses it took 4 months and lots of stress to just get my money back.This was even with E Bays assistance at the end.
They just ignored the return postage claim etc..
I gave up in the end which is what they hope for..

It's is worth noting that the Distance Selling Regulations do not apply to private sellers on eBay - this is clearly stated somewhere in one of the many eBay policy statements.

If you paid for the goods via paypal then they are always worth contacting for a refund if the goods are not as described (yes I know eBay and Paypal are effectively one and the same but they are two separate entities and have there own policy statements)
