So now I have actually managed to start this, I have noticed that there is some sort of groove cut on one side of the fins. I assume this is some sort of drip strip and should be underneath the fin. Mine were a mixture, at least two of them had the groove on the top, which I think would catch water and therefore promote corrosion. Would that be right, under rather than on top ??

This has been discussed a few times over the years,

Basically you are correct groove & lip to the bottom. On my car some one had fitted two left hand pieces - they simply turned one upside and fitted it to the right hand side. Looked ok from a distance but the spacing between the "slats" is slightly different top and bottom. Managed to obtain a good right hand side one the complete the set.

Dont follow advice to use abrasive on the exposed aluminium edges.

            Use thinners as previous post.

Reason is that these parts are anodised to prevent corrosion.

Scraping / abrasion will damage the anodising.

Thanks, for both tips above. Should have both between lights bits and one outer primed later this evening.

Thanks. I fairly pleased with the result. Given body stuff is something I have no experience of. They are not perfect, but hopefully the flaws are not that obvious..
