2 of the 5/16th captive nuts on drivers door were tired and cost of helicoils were ridiculous, so drilled and tapped M12 to take a 5/16UNF then drilled & tapped captive nut to take the M12. Fitted with locktite, just to trim slightly with Dremmel to sit flush.
Hole in M12 bolt was machine drilled, so that it was centred accurately, on a hoby lathe I have, but if I were the careful sort (
) I maybe could have done it with a normal drill
