Too much fuel after fitting an electric fuel pump

    Hi,

I have just fitted a new ecco electric continuous fuel pump to my mk2 Stag, pump comes with a restrictor which i'm told is only to be used if there is a return line to the tank of which there is not. My problem is that i have to much fuel going to carbs and coming out of the breather pipes and into the air filter. I have been told to put restrictor in fuel line to carbs or do carbs just need adjusting, any help with this matter would be much appreciated.

    Regards
    KGodfrey

    Welcome to the Forum.

If your car was running properly before (until, presumably your old pump packed up !) then I don't think I'd tamper with the carburettors.

    Good luck. Cheers

I see you are just round the corner from me in Whyteleafe... continuous pumps aren't really suitable for application in the Stag - why didn't you just replace it with an SU type?

In some ways I agree with Kryten's point.... that way you would know things were compatible. However there are plenty of Stags with "non" SU pumps running perfectly well. If you have too much fuel you need to fit something like a filter king filter and regulator. It has an internal pressure control without the need for a return line.
You might also have forced crap along the lines and now the float valves are stuck open.. They will need checking to be sure

          Did you fit a LM115?

Get your money back if possible, and fit a AZX1311SU from paddocks or similar.

Thanks for your input, it's looking likely that I'll go back to original SU pump.

I had exactly the same problem, changed back to su pump, had no problems since.

                  Hello,

I have built in a Mitsuba pump with a Filterking regulator both into my Stag and the TR6 - and am quite happy with them.

                  Kind regards,
                  Dieter.

I'm fitting a filter king too . I think for the very small cost the benefits are worth it .
