Klaus, the original 123 system was preprogrammed with 16 different curves but the one advertised is the 123/Tune system which is mappable so you can download any curve via a USB connection.
Aldon Ignition sell the 'Amethyst' which does the same job at a much lower price, but the microprocessor in not in the dissy, it is in a separate control box.

hi Klaus , I have the 123 ignition distributor fitted and it is a lovely bit of kit , there are two in built curves and a rev limiter which is initially set at 6000rpm but you can change it easily via the usb connection to your laptop . you can reprogram the curves to your own spec .of the two preloaded, one is for everyday routine driving and one for more spirited driving and you can swop at the flick of a switch . it is a well engineered product and technical backup is freely available . all you need to change is a laptop and download the tuning tool then it can be done dynamically .

Many thanks and sorry for my late answer Chris and Steve--I was in a hospital for some days, all fine now.
Steve: do you think it is an improvement in comparison to a Luminition (mine is now 20 years working in my Stag)?

Chris, an interesting website for the Amethyst system. I have two questions:
--does a Luminition system alter/wear out? I don't have any problem with my 20 years old Luminition but one never knows...There have been a lot of positive and negative comments here in the forum.
--in another forum I read about Ignitor/Amethyst the abbreviations "MJ" and"MS"-system. I couldn't find a translation, so what does it stand for?

Klaus, the Amethyst can be purchased to work with a manifold vacuum sensor, but also other options such as boost (for turbocharged) and throttle positions sensor. Perhaps that is what they are.
In my experience, the faults with Lumenition are the connector (the pins lose contact) and the chopper/rotor (can crack), both of which could be repaired.
You could keep the Lumenition and run it with the Amethyst, or use points or perhaps an Accuspark unit.

hi Klaus , I've only just fitted the 123 dizzy and run it for a short while but already it seems to run much better and seems keen to pick up and go , I decided on the 123 as like you I've been running a lumenition for a long time on all my other cars including this one but this technology seems the way forward the vac advance is now sensed electronically and mechanical advance also , adjustments are completed by the dizzy in its software .this is a very neat install and as a plus it is all completely programmable by the owner to your own spec or just use the two curves installed. I will report back after I have clocked some significant miles and I am able to do a comparison .

Since the 70s aftermarket bike ignitions have replaced the worn out springs with an electronic advance which gives a far better curve.
I'm guessing the culmination simply replaces the points?

Klaus
yes Klaus I did purchase direct fro hebels the 123 distributor specialist in Holland .in the first instance I sent out an old distributor complete without the cap and rotor arm and they returned it fully reworked with a new cap and rotor arm and full instructions with a link to their website to download the latest tuning software . without stripping I cant tell if the shaft is new but the helical gear did look new .it certainly looked very good and well engineered and worked out of the box . you can contact them direct via email they are very helpful .
