was it the actual zip bit that broke? or the puller?
Puller? easy you can get replacements that hook in, or just use the metal ring of a key ring
If the slider then it is probably because a tooth is missing, should be able to feed it back in at the same place but the zip will still be tired. You could sew the zip together where the missing tooth is to stop the zip getting to that point again.
If the slider has deformed then fit it back and squeeze gently with pliers.
New zips and windows can be fitted but patience is required.Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

getting it onto the zip can be a struggle. you need to undo the end of the zip. feed the slider on and then sew it back up again.
My dry cleaner has repaired zips on coats etc in the past.
The zip on the hood is not that chunky but very long, just a thoughtStags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

I went to visit Aldridge Trimming for advice on my hood recently.
I got loads of good help and advice, but in the zip dep.t they shared a simple idea which can increase the life of any Stag rear window zip;
Always zip up the window up before slamming the bottom rear section shut. It takes a lot of the strain off all parts of the zip.
Assuming, of course, that it was unzipped it before stowing it....

It's always been the golden rule to unzip the rear window before storage to prevent creases in the window

Not all, and especially new owners have heard about 'golden rule'. If they are in the habit of leaving the window zipped up when stowing it, there is no need to zip it back up when re-erecting the hood as it has already been left zipped up.
As we know, that brings other problems.
The point was that if doing things as they should be done (golden rule being followed) then it's better to zip the window up before slamming the rear section shut, as this puts far less strain on all parts of the zip when closing the window up, when the hood is not under much tension. The advice therefore only applies to people following the golden rule up to that point.
As a footnote, and to reinforce the golden rule, my rear window had not been unzipped when stowed by the PO.
I bought the car on a rainy day with the hardtop fitted and a ferry to catch. It's taken almost a year to get the window creases out.
