    Anyone tried this

I had a small few pittings in the block and in the head where the head gasket had gone, I am sure that it would have been OK but I thought nothing ventured nothing gained and if it does no good it cant do any harm. So I gave it a go and seems to be good stuff it certainly goes off hard (as a police mans heart) I was thinking it my be of use as a permanent head repair. Graham

I have used JB Weld for many things, but not that. No so sure how it will do with the heat?

'Tis good stuff and have used it to fill pitting in the inlet manifold faces, among other things. The website says it will withstand temperatures up to 550F (288C) when fully cured. How hot does the head get outside the fire ring?

I've used it to fill a a inlet manifold fixing hole in the head, then drilled, tapped and helicoiled it, couldn't believe it worked but it did!!!

Seen JB weld used for all sorts of repairs that are subject to horrible operating conditions... just never that one. But cant see why it wouldn't work. Even if it came out it is only going to be dust and will get spat out the exhaust anyway.

Its incredible stuff. Somebody on here glued a spark in with it as a get me home measure and it lasted much longer IIRC.

Doesnt look bad enough to really need repairing and if it failed I cant see it would do any harm.

Don't know why but when I saw the thread title and it was from Graham, I was expecting a different topic....

I used it to hold a stud to support the coil in my inlet manifold , as the thread was stripped , after one journey the compound went soft and the stud was again loose ! In my opinion no good for heat fixings !!! Rods Graham

We used JB weld for all sorts in the workshop - even successfully reclaimed the thread for a classic Mini sump bung for a customer too tight to have the gearbox case renewed or helicoiled in situ.

Found it very useful when K series block faces were corroded and the stainless head gasket with silicone seals wouldn't stop leaking coolant - saved many an engine...
