    Alternator on Mk1 Stag

    Hello Chaps !

    Ignition Light on while engine is running.jpg

    Ignition light is contantly on !

    All I remember doing is oil the Alternator and it was squealing. Bearing Probably !!!

    Is it Cuput ?

    I think there is a control box on the drivers side suspension turret .... if there is you probably have a MK1 alternator with external regulator.
    There may be some checks you can do with your new meter but as I said on the other post I will have to bow out of the tech input 'cos I have nothing to input!

      When this happened on my Mk1 the alternator (11AC) soon went west; I'm no electrician but there's plenty of wiring diagrams on the web that show that it is connected to a voltage regulator (4TR) and a relay (16RA). I found the 11AC to be too big to wriggle out and I had to take out the P/S pump and drain the bottom hose to get at it. Although I had the 11AC fixed at an auto electrician, I still couldn't get the old girl going and so I changed the system for the newer Mk 11 electricals.         Some Numpty used an oil can to oil squealing bearing ! Light No Longer On.
        Finally got Married on 27th June 2015.
