Trim Experts - What's the answer?

    Hi all
Went and bought a mk 1 interior on fleebay. Very nice and all but in all the excitement I forgot to notice the t-bar does not have the interior light fitting space. So that bit is a mk2 t-bar then. Are the t-bars the same for a mk1 and mk2 I.e can I refit my interior light fitting from my existing bar onto the mk2 one? Or do I need a different bar? If so anyone want to swap??
If I do try to swap them over the zips on both bars are ruddy well hard to move - any suggestions on that front. I could just do without the t-bar light. Who would notice?
Interior is black and yes I will be offering my old interior (tomcat seats etc) up for anyone to buy.
Let me know your collective thoughts on the above please.

    Jonathan,

I think you may be mixing things up. The Mk1 Stags, prior to LD20001, had a pair of interior lights - one in each B-post. The T-bar had none. From approx LD20001 the interior light moved to the T-bar, where the fitment held 2 bulbs; one operated by each door.

      Hi Dave
It would appear that I have a mix. Both B post lights and a centre t-bar light are installed. This means I have 3 lights in the car. So do I loose the centre t-bar light when replacing my t-bar?
Is this set up common or just the PO adapting/upgrading?
      thanks#Jonathan

PO fiddling. It wasn't a factory set up. You'll have to look at how the wiring has been adapted and decide which way to go.

I have all three wired and working on my Mk1 (which must have a Mk2 T-bar).

If you have the central one on the T-bar I would keep it and wire it up, as the Mk1 (side) ones dont throw much light where its needed IMO.

Hi. Thats my question really. I must have a mk2 tbar on the car. Can I make the mk1 t bar I have bought into a mk2 version? Or are the tbars completely different under the foam from a mk1 compared to a mk2?

Jonathan, have a feel on the side of the bar, if its the same as mine (Mk1 car - MK2 T-Bar), you will feel the cut out slots for the interior lights. Would then just need to cut the foam to fit them in! Plus wire it up as well!!
If you decide to sell the seats, let me know... . Best, Nigel

                Hi Nigel
Not sure I can feel anything - but having said that, spending the weekend taking out and putting in new (old) seats and trim has resulted in skinning my knuckles several times. So my fingers are not in the best shape.

So each t-bar should be the same underneath, regardless of it being a mk1 or mk2 or will the metal work under all the foam be different as the car moves from mk 1 to 2?

I will pm you on the seats if you like. cheers Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, I suspect that if you can't feel anything then the holes aren't there. They are very noticeable, just below the seat belt pivot point and are the same shape as the one in the top of the T-Bar (obvious, sorry!). I think the metalwork changed on a Mk2 T-Bar to exclude the holes. Mine is probably a Mk1.5!
PM re the seats, thanks. Nigel

The Mk1 lights are not in the 'T' bar but the inside of the 'B' post. My Stag is a 'Mk1.5' and has the overhead (single) Mk2 light. However, the holes in the bodyshell for the Mk1 lights are still there underneath the trim. I suspect though that a Mk1 'T' bar will not have the Mk2 type light hole.

                    Cheers,
                    Mike.
